The teacher’s role in eLearning is as integral to learning as in the a F2F classroom. In a blended course, the ‘eLearning bit’ can be in part facilitated in the classroom, but where students are accessing/building resources, activities, assessments, etc. online, particularly where students are relatively new to online learning, an effective online teacher presence is necessary. Gilly Salmon has been developing and writing about the online facilitation process since for over 10 years now and her e-moderating ‘5-Stage model’ is widely used.
